Applying with EnBW is easy: Every job opening includes a link for you to apply online. The online application form can be filled out quickly. We don’t need a cover letter, just your CV with all the relevant information.
Tip: Linking your XING or LinkedIn profile can speed things up even more!
How does the online application process work?
A complete application includes the following documents:
Initial questions:
Instead of requiring you to submit a cover letter, we ask you a few initial questions about your goals and reasons for applying.
CV:
A complete CV should include the most important stages of your career.
Qualifications:
Be sure to include all relevant diplomas and certificates that provide proof of the qualifications listed in your CV and that support your application. We expect to receive the following at a minimum: a copy of your high school diploma (or equivalent), a copy of your bachelor’s/master’s degree and/or graduate degree (if you’ve already graduated), your latest transcript, and letters of reference/work certificates from your previous employers.
Which documents do I need for my application?
The trainee program has 5 to 12 spaces for trainees, depending on the individual program.
How many spaces are there?
As a rule, if the job is still posted on the EnBW job market, there are still spaces available. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, which means once all spaces are filled, we will no longer accept new applications. So, the sooner you apply, the better.
Is there a deadline for applications?
You can apply for multiple positions at the same time. Multiple simultaneous applications have no effect on applications already in process. However, when submitting multiple applications, make sure to adapt your application for the job in question.
Can I apply for other positions in addition to the trainee program?
You can apply online quickly and easily with our applicant management system. Please note that we will only accept online applications for the trainee program.
Should I apply via email or online?
When you submit your application, you will automatically receive a confirmation of receipt. We will then review your application as soon as possible and do our best to give you a quick response. You can speed up the process by making sure that you submit all the necessary documents. Thanks in advance for your patience.
I applied for the trainee program. When can I expect a response?
Yes. If you’ve completed your degree program several months before the start of the program and you’d like to start working at EnBW now, we will try to find you a temporary position that you can take on until the program starts.
I’ve already completed my degree program. Does EnBW offer temporary positions until the program starts?
Applicants are selected based on a clearly defined list of requirements for our Corporate Trainees . For this purpose, we use a fully virtual four-stage selection process to evaluate each applicant’s relevant skills.
- Application review and online test
In the first step of the selection procedure, we review your application. If we are satisfied with your application, we will invite you to take an online test. You have one week to take the test. The test itself takes around 1 hour to complete. - Virtual interview
If you pass the online test, we will invite you to an interview with representatives from our HR department. The interviews are held virtually and take around 90 minutes. - EnBW Experience Day
Once you’ve cleared the hurdle of the interview, you’re almost at the finish line! The fourth and final stage in the trainee selection process is EnBW Experience Day – a day when we utilize state-of-the-art technologies and methods, such as case studies, video feedback, learning nuggets communicated via e-learning, or a hackathon, to create an enjoyable event for participants. At Experience Day, you will not only meet representatives from HR, but also members of the works council, colleagues from different EnBW departments, and current trainees.
After Experience Day, you will receive individual feedback and be informed as to whether or not you have been selected for the program. If you are selected for the Corporate Trainee program, you will receive your digital contract the same day.
How is the selection process structured?
The trainee program is a program for young talent. It is intended to prepare college graduates to take on a position of responsibility within the company.
You will take on an active role during the job search phase at the end of the program. The goal is for you to transition from the program directly into challenging entry-level positions with attractive career prospects in the company’s growth areas based on your individual skills and talents. We therefore expect that you will quickly assume responsibility and prepare yourself for future challenges.
Furthermore, the content of the trainee program provides a good foundation to recent college graduates who want to take on cross-divisional project management or managerial responsibilities in the medium to long term. However, none of this is a given – trainees need to consistently demonstrate their abilities both during and after the program and be willing to take on new challenges.
What sort of career prospects will I have after the program?
In order to develop the energy economy of tomorrow, we expect our Corporate Trainees to have the drive to take an entrepreneurial approach; a digital mindset in order to seek out the opportunities presented by change; a passion for energy and all related topics in order to immerse themselves in an ever-changing world; and the courage to swim against the current in order to make a difference, to pursue ideas with passion, to question the status quo, and to think outside the box when it comes to finding solutions.
For this reason, in-depth knowledge of engineering, computer science or natural science is certainly a plus, but not a hard requirement. You must have completed a master’s/graduate degree or a bachelor’s degree in combination with relevant practical experience and you must also have strong analytical skills. Last but not least, you should have an excellent command of German and English. The ideal candidates are experienced individuals who live and breathe energy – digital minds, unconventional thinkers, and self-starters with a passion for all topics related to energy and change.
Who can apply to the program?
Trainees are expected to work 36 hours a week. Their schedules are determined based on the requirements of the program as well as the models used in the respective departments.
How many hours a week is the trainee program?
During the trainee program, you are entitled to 30 days of vacation. However, for organizational reasons, there are some scheduling restrictions. For this reason, we have defined set vacation periods during the program.
What are the vacation regulations?
You can choose to complete the program in either Karlsruhe or Stuttgart. As part of the Corporate Trainee program, you can look forward to fascinating assignments at various EnBW locations. This may be at your main workplace, in Hamburg in the Renewable Energy department, or in Cologne at Yello Strom.
