Our locations are as diverse as our energy mix: 70% of our employees work in Baden-Württemberg; however we also have locations throughout Germany. Plus, we’re steadily expanding internationally. This offers you the chance to take on exciting tasks in other countries such as France, Denmark, Sweden, and Turkey. One of our latest projects: We’ve partnered with bp to build offshore wind farms in the UK.
We have a particularly strong connection with Baden-Württemberg. Not only because of our history, but also because as a company, we are majority-owned by the Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke – a municipal administration unit. More than 70% of our employees work here.
Karlsruhe and Stuttgart
EnBW’s headquarters are located on Durlacher Allee in Karlsruhe. A neighboring building houses the EnBW Training Center with its training workshops.
We also have a large presence in Stuttgart. In the city’s Fasanenhof district, we have a large
administrative complex that houses around 2,000 employees, which we refer to as “EnBW City.”
We also have large offices in Biberach an der Riß and Esslingen.
Power plant locations
As an energy supplier, many of our employees spend their workdays somewhere other than sitting behind a desk. Our locations for energy generation and storage are as diverse as our energy mix. From conventional power plants to wind turbines all the way to pump-storage plants, we are represented with a wide variety of different plants and facilities across Baden-Württemberg. And also further afield, for example in the northernmost part of Germany with our offshore wind farms in the Baltic and North Seas.

Customer proximity
From our customer center to the EnBW Shop: we are visible and available to our customers
wherever they are. Our subsidiary Netze BW, the largest grid company for power, gas, and water in Baden-Württemberg, has eight technology centers, 66 district centers, and numerous further locations across Baden-Württemberg.
However, we are also active in other parts of the country, of course. Our subsidiary Yello Strom is headquartered in Cologne; our colleagues at Watt Energie work in Frankfurt. Our company has an office in the capital city of Berlin, while our location in Hamburg offers us proximity to both on- and offshore wind energy.

Outside of Baden-Württemberg
Even though our roots are in Baden-Württemberg, we are also active in other areas of Germany. Our subsidiary Yello Strom is headquartered in Cologne; our colleagues at Watt Energie work in Frankfurt. Our company has an office in the capital city of Berlin, while our location in Hamburg offers EnBW proximity to both on- and offshore wind energy.
The roots of Connected WindServices A/S can be traced back to the year 1987. The company based in Balle, Denmark, with national subsidiaries in Germany (Rantrum) and Sweden (Falkenberg), has more than 30 years’ experience as a vendor-neutral service provider in the area of service and maintenance. More than 50 service teams in Denmark, Sweden and Germany manage over 1,700 wind turbines; in addition, CWS works on complex wind turbine service projects throughout Europe.
Valeco has been our subsidiary since June 2019 and now employs 250 people. We develop and realize wind energy and PV projects on the French market through Valeco – a project developer and operator in the renewable energies sector. We expect continued dynamic growth here, both in the area of wind power and photovoltaics.
In Great Britain, we have secured the rights to build several offshore wind farms together with our partner bp. We want to build two offshore wind farms in the Irish Sea with a total output of three gigawatts and one offshore wind farm in the North Sea off the Scottish coast with an output of 2.9 gigawatts.
In July 2018, we founded the Swedish subsidiary EnBW Sverige. In January 2019, we were able to acquire seven Swedish wind farms with a total of 51 wind turbines and an installed output of 105 megawatts. Following the commissioning of the Rammarehemmet wind farm in July 2021, EnBW now has 120.1 MW of installed output in Sweden.
Energiedienst (ED), based in Laufenberg, Switzerland, has around 1,000 employees and is an ecologically oriented German-Swiss company with various subsidiaries that is active in South Baden and Switzerland. ED exclusively generates green electricity, primarily using hydropower, and has already been climate neutral since 2020. Alongside the supply of electricity, this group of companies offers its customers smart, networked products and services, including photovoltaic plants, heat pumps, electricity storage systems, electromobility and e-car sharing.
The core business activities of Pražská energetika (PRE) – based in Prague, Czech Republic, with around 1,700 employees – include the sale of gas and electricity, the distribution of electricity in Prague and Roztoky, the generation of electricity from renewable sources, the operation and expansion of the fiber-optic infrastructure, the expansion of the charging infrastructure for e-mobility and the provision of energy services. PRE is the third-largest electricity supplier in the Czech Republic.
Based in Turkey, the German-Turkish joint venture Borusan was founded in 2009 to build and operate renewable power generation plants. Since then, we have built up around 720 MW of generation capacity with our Turkish partner Borusan in the form of eight wind farms, two solar parks and a hydropower plant.
We are the market leader for quick charging in Germany and are now expanding onto the Austrian market with our joint venture SMATRICS EnBW. The joint venture SMATRICS EnBW operates Austria’s only nationwide high-capacity charging network. The subsidiary of the Austrian energy supply company VERBUND also provides e-mobility services, among others, for business customers and partner companies.
Our employees make all the difference. They work together every day to shape the energy transition. Which is why we value team spirit so highly. This is the only way for us to master the challenges of the future and prove that we are the ones who are building and shaping the infrastructure of the future.
At EnBW, we invest our energy into building a better future: We develop innovative business models and support start-ups. Discover the areas where we channel our energy.
We are sustainably propelling e-mobility into the future with Germany’s largest fast-charging network. And the EnBW charging network grows a little bit every day. We open one new location a day on average – outside of shops, in the city center, or on the highway. Always with 100% green energy from hydropower.
We supply the entire country with sustainable solar, wind, and hydropower. All from our own sources, of course – e.g., from Germany’s largest offshore wind farm in the North Sea, the country’s largest solar park in Brandenburg, and from our 67 hydropower and pumped-storage plants.
We keep everything flowing in the digital world as well, and safeguard our energy infrastructure. After all, as an operator of energy generation plants and grids, we have a unique responsibility. And we take on this responsibility with full power and sophisticated solutions – from IT and OT security all the way to our Cyber Defense Center.
With our grid expansion project, we’re preparing 100,000 km of power grid for the future. For example, in order to connect windy northern Germany with the sunny south. But that’s not all: We’re also making the power grid smart – for maximum flexibility regardless of future challenges.
With software solutions like the Power Cloud, we’re freeing up energy in a whole new way, making it as easy as possible to integrate into our everyday lives. After all, innovative ideas are what drives everything we do in order to make the future of energy more secure and independent.
