EnBW enters into partnership with Stromnetz Hamburg
Karlsruhe. When it comes to energy-industry billing services, Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH is placing its trust in expertise from the south of the country: EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG will provide the energy-industry billing platform for Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH’s sister company Gasnetz Hamburg GmbH (which was newly founded at the beginning of the year) from 2020. Around 230,000 gas grid customers in the Hanseatic city will be managed centrally via the so-called “EVU platform” at Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH's computer centre in future. The EVU platform from EnBW can handle all energy-industry processes – from the management of metering data and billing services through to market communication and customer service provision. Alongside the operation of the platform, the services provided by EnBW will include maintenance and the further development of the platform solution.
“We have found a partner in EnBW that has real expertise in energy-industry processes in large and sophisticated IT projects and for the development of the required IT system environment”, says Christian Heine, Managing Director of Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH and Gasnetz Hamburg GmbH. “This is what ultimately convinced us. Thanks to their EVU platform, we are excellently positioned for the digital future and can generate significant synergies for Hamburg and its grids.”
“We are delighted to bring our expertise to Hamburg and thus support a still relatively young city-based network operator in the development of efficient billing processes”, says Alexander Neuhaus, Head of the Operations Business Unit at EnBW. “The open and transparent communication between all parties – Gasnetz Hamburg as the customer, Stromnetz Hamburg as the operator of the computer centre and us as the service provider – worked from the very beginning and is one of the main success factors for this joint project.”
