EnBW becomes the first company to operate more than 6,000 fast-charging points in Germany
Karlsruhe. The ability to quickly charge electric cars is indispensable not only on long journeys, but also in everyday life. On longer journeys, the battery charges during a coffee break. When shopping, the charging process provides sufficient range for the coming days or until the next trip to the shops. This also makes it easy for those who do not have their own wall box to drive electric vehicles. That is why there has especially been a rapid rise in the number of fast-charging points in recent years.
Overall, the nationwide charging network is developing at a significantly faster pace than the vehicle market. As the operator of Germany’s largest fast-charging network, EnBW is playing a key role in this. It has now become the first company to pass the 6,000 mark for fast-charging points throughout Germany.
“We have achieved our target and installed more than 1,000 new fast-charging points since July of this year. These are the strongest half-yearly figures since our first fast-charging station was installed at the end of 2016 on the A8 near Stuttgart,” says EnBW’s Chief Sales Officer Dirk Güsewell. “Based on the utilized time, the charging infrastructure in Germany can handle six times the number of electric cars. At EnBW alone, motorists can now find a fast-charging station within a radius of 50 kilometers almost anywhere in the country. In order to further increase the density of our charging network, we remain committed to making a relevant contribution to the expansion of the German fast-charging network in the future and also strengthen our market position.”
With its strategy, EnBW follows the needs of drivers. They can find the energy company's fast-charging options where they are, making it easy to integrate charging into their everyday lives. That is why EnBW invests in a reliable and dense fast-charging network that is available to all drivers in Germany.
