EnBW Supervisory Board decides to reappoint Dirk Güsewell and Georg Stamatelopoulos
Karlsruhe. At its meeting last Thursday, the Supervisory Board of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG took an early decision to reappoint Dirk Güsewell and Dr. Georg Stamatelopoulos for a further five years as members of the Board of Management.
Dirk Güsewell is the board member responsible for System Critical Infrastructure, while Dr. Georg Stamatelopoulos is the board member who oversees Sustainable Generation Infrastructure. Both were appointed to the EnBW Board of Management with effect from 1 June 2021. Their contracts, which run until 31 May 2024, have been extended for five years with effect from 1 June 2024, which means they are now due to end on 31 May 2029.
“We are delighted to be able to continue our good and trusting working relationship with Dirk Güsewell and Dr. Georg Stamatelopoulos following their reappointment. We now have a long-term constellation on the Board of Management capable of tackling the challenges that lie ahead,” said Lutz Feldmann, Chairman of the EnBW Supervisory Board. “Expanding the grid and converting to new forms of generation are two key building blocks essential to the success of the energy transition for EnBW and ultimately Germany. Dirk Güsewell and his System Critical Infrastructure teams are securing a reliable energy supply and successfully driving the expansion of the electricity grids in particular. Transforming our generation portfolio is the Sustainable Generation Infrastructure team’s biggest challenge. As the board member responsible for this task, Georg Stamatelopoulos strikes the perfect balance between expanding renewables and simultaneously taking into account the provision of available generation capacity.”
Dirk Güsewell is head of the “System Critical Infrastructure” segment, which includes all grid-bound business activities involving electricity, gas and water, the gas value chain and the growth areas of telecommunications and innovation management.
Dr. Georg Stamatelopoulos is head of the “Sustainable Generation Infrastructure” segment, which encompasses all market-based generation and trading matters, as well as growth areas, especially in the field of renewable energy sources. The segment covers renewable and conventional generation, the dismantling of nuclear plants, trading, the areas of technology coordination, waste disposal / environmental services, occupational safety, environmental protection and crisis management.
About EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG
With a workforce of around 27,000 employees, EnBW is one of the largest energy supply companies in Germany and Europe. It supplies electricity, gas and water together with infrastructure and energy-related products and services to around 5.5 million customers. In the course of its transformation from a conventional energy supplier to a sustainable infrastructure group, increasing renewable energy capacity and expanding distribution and transmission grids for electricity and gas are cornerstones of the company’s growth strategy and the focus of its investment spending. Between 2023 and 2025, EnBW plans gross investment of around 14 billion euros, largely in accelerating the pace of the energy transition. By the end of 2025, renewables are set to account for more than half of EnBW’s generation portfolio. The aim is to phase out coal by the end of 2028. These are key milestones on the company’s way to achieving climate neutrality by 2035. www.enbw.com/company
