Karlsruhe. MSCI, one of the leading sustainability rating agencies, has awarded EnBW a score of “AA” in this year’s ESG rating update. Previously, EnBW held an “A” rating (on scale of AAA-CCC). EnBW now scores above average in the Utilities sector and has therefore joined the ranks of global leaders.

The MSCI analysts highlight EnBW’s extensive commitment to the expansion of renewable energy. At the same time, exiting from nuclear power has significantly improved EnBW’s risk profile. In addition, MSCI rates the Company’s talent attraction and retention efforts as strong compared to its peers.

Thomas Kusterer, EnBW’s Deputy CEO and CFO: “We are pleased to receive this upgrade from MSCI, which reflects our long-term, consistent transformation process. We remain dedicated to further strengthening our Company's position in terms of responsibility and sustainability and to further improve in the relevant ESG ratings.”

About EnBW
With over 28,000 employees, EnBW is one of the largest energy companies in Germany and Europe. It supplies around 5.5 million customers with electricity and gas. As part of its transformation from a traditional energy company to a sustainable infrastructure group, the expansion of renewable energy sources and of the distribution and transmission grids for electricity, gas and hydrogen are cornerstones of EnBW's growth strategy and the focus of its investments. Until 2030, EnBW plans gross investments of €40 billion, around 90 percent of which will be invested in Germany. By then, around 80 percent of EnBW's generation portfolio is to consist of renewable energies, and the company aims to phase out coal by the end of 2028. These are key milestones on the road to the company's climate neutrality in 2035. www.enbw.com
